Hey Guys,

Was fortunate enough to catch a live show at the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor back around 1990. The Tailgators are at the highest level in my pantheon of rock and roll. Have moved around the country since then and now do a program on independent community radio 88.9 KPOV in Bend, OR. Have just gotten my hands on Hide Your Eyes and am working on rebuilding my Tailgators collection (my vinyl is all gone).
Our station would gladly play any new releases by you if you'd get them to us. We stream on the web at www.kpov.org if you want to check it out sometime. You guys are a top notch, driving rock and roll outfit. My "desert island" picks are...Rock and Roll 'til the Cows Come Home - Brown Eyed Girl - Colinda...it's all so good. Happy Holidays!

Kind regards,
Tom Jasper

I saw the Tail Gators live several times in the late 80s here in Vancouver, BC. Always great shows, especially when you played the club "Graceland", backed up by Vancouver's own Nervous Fellas. Your and the Le Roi Bros. first few albums still get a lot of play in my house..hope they are eventually released on CD to reach a greater auidence, which both bands deserve.
Keep on rockin'!

Hi Don,

Greetings from Portland, ME. Just rocking out to "Swamp Rock" and realizing what a great album it is. (I've owned it since 1989). Now, it's one of my 4 year old daughters favorites as well! Anyway, hope you guys are well.

I have been a huge fan of and evangelist for the Tailgators since you guys started after Don left the LeRoi Bros. (another band in my top-5). I have turned so many people on here in the Detroit area to the Tailgators and hope that, someday, you guys can stop by again and bless us with some of the finest music to rustle the air here. I saw Steve Doerr at the Evangeline Cafe last summer and he said that you, Don, are doing fine. I was glad to hear that. Again, hope to catch you sometime here or maybe in Austin during my next year's annual pilgrimmage.

Saw you guys in Wichata, maybe around '88.
I think it was called the Coyote Club and Harry Dean Stanton
came on to do a couple.

Yes! A Tailgators website! Very nice to see this - I hope it's the start of something new and big for you.

Don - we had some contact back in the 1990's, when I worked for Elderly Instruments in Lansing, MI. Sure hope all is well with you and yours.

I love these guys to pieces. Being a Spaniard, it was not easy to get to know them during the 80's and early 90's. I came in contact with them in the summer of 1994 in a road trip from Boston to Logan (Utah). There I visited a guy that happened to be listened to the Tail Gators..I didn't leave until I got a copy (sorry, guys, I was young and moneyless) in a tape...

Is there anywhere I can buy a CD copy of 'Swamp Rock'? I'm in Europe, and my vinyl copy (besides being worn flat) isn't. :(

Hey! I'm SO glad you have a website now. I'd like to see you guys play again, even if I have to drive to Austin for it. Please update the calendar page with gig information so I can make plans. Haven't seen you play this century - that's TOO LONG!

'Mumbo Jumbo' by The Tailgators is the hottest rockin' album of all time, even hotter than 'Rolling Through The Night' by Evan Johns & The H-Bombs, and that's saying something! 'Swamp Rock', 'Tore Up', 'Hide Your Eyes' and 'Swamp's Up!' are not far behind. If they're ever reissued in digipack form I'll buy 'em all again! I was delighted to see the picture of Evan Johns playing with The Tailgators on your website.

I read a review of Swamp Rock in the British music press back in 1985, and went out and bought it immediately. It's never left my collection, and I've introduced it to hundreds of friends. When lost for something to listen to, it's an album I inevitably turn to (that and The Modern Lovers album).

If you're ever in Boston, I'll be there, dragging every friend and acquaintance with me.

Thank you.

Keith Ferguson, the legendary Bass Player who has played with the best once told me that Don Leady was the best guitar player that he has ever heard and played with. I agree.

Mumbo Jumbo needs to be re-released on CD -- One of my favorite albums ever. It is impossible to find it in stores.

I have always really enjoyed your music and hope you make a record again sometime soon. You should sell mp3s of live shows on your website. Set up a paypal account and then email the person a link with a zip file they can download.

I'm the guy you let tape you here in St Louis in Nov 1991 for KDHX radio. Dick Ross was on drums. I sent you a DAT tape of the show a few days later.
Take care,
-Glenn

SWAMP ROCK was one of the albums I learned to play guitar from (the others being Lightnin' Hopkins and the first T-birds album w/ Keith). I still remember being 15 years old and jamming away to ROCK 'N' ROLL 'TIL THE COWS COME HOME at full volume back home in Houston. Whenever I need a 'pick me up' I dig out my current copy (on CD) and crank it up. Food for the soul! The Tailgators are the coolest Rock 'n' Roll band ever.
